We at Goiserer Parkett have specialised in the ancient craftsmanship of parquet flooring. In our manufactory in Bad Ischl, we produce panelled and inlaid parquet floors in the style of the masters of yesteryear.
There are no limits to the imagination. Whether geometric patterns, large floral ornaments, family coats of arms or pictures and sceneries, we can produce everything without any problems and with the highest precision.

Our machines, some of which we have designed and manufactured ourselves, are designed purely for the production of panelled and inlaid parquet and we can therefore produce a wide variety of floors, even in large quantities.

We plan the rooms digitally so that the customer gets an idea of their future parquet in advance.

We only use sustainably harvested raw materials, which are then reforested.

Depending on the area of application, the parquet can be produced in solid, 2 or 3 layers, and all our products are suitable for the installation of underfloor heating.

The history of panel parquet

As early as the 13th century, craftsmen began laying raw wooden planks next to each other. Later, hand-planed planks made of various softwoods such as fir, spruce, larch or pine were laid. From the 16th century onwards, these plank floors gave rise to parquet flooring in its current form as a prestigious floor covering. People began to use planks in different lengths and to colour the wood by staining it. Later, different coloured wood was nailed to the planks in variously sized fields in an elegant manner, which served purely to decorate the interiors. With the start of the international trade in tropical wood in a wide variety of colours, parquet flooring became all the more fashionable. Initially, only villas, castles and palaces of the monarchies were decorated in this way with magnificent floors.

The heyday of marquetry and parquet flooring was in the 17th and 18th centuries.

In the 17th century, parquet flooring finally became an integral part of interior design, although it was still reserved for the wealthy upper classes. Parquet flooring was originally invented in France, where it still contributes to the fascinating splendour of Baroque palaces today. Noble woods such as oak, walnut, cherry, maple or pear were mainly used for the parquet flooring.
The art of parquet flooring reached its peak in the 18th century. Artfully designed inlaid floors with a variety of ornaments bear witness to this, but scenes or figurative images were also immortalised in the parquet flooring.
When the splendour of the absolutist rulers came to an end in the period after the French Revolution in 1789, the parquet flooring with geometric patterns that is common today came into fashion.

Stefan Barawitzka, Austrian pioneer of parquet flooring

Stefan Barawitzka learnt the carpentry trade in Vienna. In 1838, he founded his own company and was able to establish significant improvements in the manufacture of parquet flooring. His work, known far beyond the Austrian border, quickly helped him to gain an excellent reputation, so that he exported his products throughout Europe and even internationally.
Barawitzka laid parquet floors in many private palaces and castles, some of these are still in good condition even after 150 years.

Present day

We at Goiserer Parkett have made it our mission to carry the craft of parquet production into the future. With our machines, some of which we built ourselves, we want to bring the parquet flooring of bygone glory days back into the living rooms of today. With classic and modern designs, panelled parquet is in great demand today and is becoming increasingly popular. There are almost no limits in terms of colour, shape, texture and wood type.
